Women’s History Month is a declared month that highlights the contributions of women . It celebrates women achievements. It is celebrated in March in the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom, corresponding with International Women’s Day which is on March 8.
We sat down with fashion designer Aaliyah A. of Boss Behavior Clothing to celebrate her.

  1. What do you challenge this month for Women’s History Month? I challenge gender stereotypes.

We as women have to be confident. We must always be willing to learn, speak and react when things are unfair. Gender stereotypes can lead to unfair wages and few opportunities. Women are so powerful. We must know our worth and empower our kids as well.

As a child , I was always told I was a smart beautiful black queen. It didn’t mean much to me when I was young but as I grew up I understood who I was. I am a black beautiful queen. I can do anything. I would never get offended by someone calling me dark or anything outside of a smart beautiful black queen because I have always loved my complexion ,I know who I am and I know my worth. I will fight, quit a job or burn any bridge before I let someone disrespect me.

  1. What do you think about the old traditional gender roles ? To each is on. However, I don’t think the having a bunch of kids, cooking, cleaning all day and letting a man take care of me is for me LOL I love my husband and he gives me the world but he also understands me. I am a fun wife and mom . However, I never wanted a bunch of kids, I love a clean house, I love to work and I’m not a master chef (and don’t want to be ) LOL . My kids know mommy likes to work and stack her money. My husband and I show our kids work ethic. They saw me grow my brand from scratch. It’s like one of their siblings. They are watching it grow and mature. They understand now, at a young age that hard work really pays off.
  2. What would you like to tell young women out there? Take control of your life. Nobody can love you more than yourself and God. You got to love yourself, stay true to yourself, try your best to make good decisions ,follow your dreams and put God first in everything you do. God has already set up the right people in your life to help you in your journey … You just have to go for it.
